Tips from a pro: Investigative journalism

Untitled design copy

I found an amazing treasure trove of information from the BBC (think CNN with an British accent)

The BBC Academy talks about several journalism topics including multimedia and basic reporting. It’s a series of videos of how they do what they do.

Here’s one they did about investigative reporting, something that I hope everyone will get a chance to do.

What’s so interesting is the follow (not so much about the secret film which…no. So  don’t ask.)

  • Editorial guidelines
  • Communications between reporters and editors
  • Understanding of the process ( what is the investigation and what are the steps we need to take)

When doing investigative journalism, it’s important that communication with everyone on the editorial end follows. When everyone is on the same page, the business of telling the news flows better.

What do you guys think about this video and what the BBC does?
